“Give your brain hopes and dreams” Ilchi Lee
On Wednesday the 17th January 2018, Theresa May set out guidelines on how our current government will tackle loneliness and social isolation.
Research, taken from the Department of Health website, states that more than 9 million people always or often feels lonely. Further, a study quoted in the Independent claimed loneliness in the UK costs around £6,000 per person.
It seems to me to be so obvious that I am surprised it has taken this long to be recognised. However, it took the tragic murder of MP Jo Cox to bring this issue to the fore. Jo Cox very famously stated “we are far more united and have far more in common with each other than that which divides us [...] young or old, loneliness doesn’t discriminate”. I couldn’t agree more.
I spent 10 years working as an NHS nurse in Oncology and Haematology. I was on the brink of complete burnout when I started mindfulness and reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. They say there are no coincidences and I believe this to be true. As I sat in Caffe Nero one day reading The Secret I picked up a leaflet for Body and Brain Yoga and Tai Chi centre.
Since that day myself and my life has changed beyond all recognition. From my first class at Body and Brain small things started to change and the more I attended class the more and quicker the changes occurred.
Whereas in my life before I always felt an underlying sadness and darkness, a constant feeling of loneliness and confusion, a wondering feeling of “I have everything I wanted, I have worked so hard for all this, yet I am still not happy”. Today, I have the normal everyday stresses of life but underneath it all a feeling of calm and contentedness.
Yoga, mindfulness and meditation are everywhere at the moment, so how is Body and Brain different?
Well, Body and Brain Yoga and Tai Chi is based on Brain Education. “Our mission is to empower individuals by activating the brain’s natural ability to create health and happiness.” Signature exercises include Brain Wave Vibration, Brain Education for children and the reason you are here, Belly Button Healing. This is a method of self healing which promotes the health of not just body but mind too, by stimulating the belly button.
How can Belly Button Healing help with loneliness?
Well, 95% of the body’s serotonin is created in the gut. Serotonin is the neurotransmitter which gives us feelings of happiness and well being. It affects mood, motivation, sleep, sexual desire and function, memory and learning.
So, stimulating your gut through your belly button for just 10 minutes twice a day will help you feel healthier, happier and more peaceful. The best thing about it is that you only have to do 10 minutes twice a day to feel a benefit. What could be easier?!
Why not try Belly Button Healing now yourself following the videos on the website? Lie down and as you stimulate your belly button you will feel your breathing becoming deeper and more comfortable and you will start to feel as though you are being supplied with life energy as though you were back in your Mother’s safe and cosy womb receiving life and love through the umbilical cord.
The power of Belly Button Healing needs to be experienced to be believed, so go ahead and give it a try.
